Statement

The work I create has many influences.These include the natural world; 1960's popular culture, in particular the psychedelic scene; modern media such as magazines and fabric design. A huge part of the inspiration for making my paintings starts with paint itself. In particular the colour and the texture it gives. The fluidity and application of paint enables me to create layers and amalgamations with the above influences to produce a painterly collage effect. All of my paintings are journeys, in terms of how I create them from initial research ideas onwards; I never know how a work will develop. I hope they trigger a response in those who view them, simlar to the one I get as I'm creating them.
